Overview and scrutiny reviews

Overview and scrutiny committees carry out reviews of important issues affecting residents and council services.

Small task forces made up of councillors investigate a topic, gather evidence and speak to organisations, experts and local people.

They then make recommendations to the council’s Executive on how services, policies or decisions could be improved. The Executive must respond within 2 months and explain what action it will take.
