2021 Census

Headline figures for Central Bedfordshire showed that Central Bedfordshire had a population of 294,300 at the 2021 Census and a population density of 411 residents per square kilometre (source: Office for National Statistics, 2021 Census).

The population had increased by 15.7% compared to the 2011 Census, above the average rate for England (6.6%) and among the fastest-growing areas in the country.

ONS have released a number of tools to enable easy access to 2021 Census data. These include:

• ONS build a custom area profile – create profiles from more than 30 variables for an area of your choosing - includes local authorities and parishes, or you can define your own area
• ONS create a custom dataset – download bespoke datasets, choosing multiple variables
• Nomis website – download Census datasets as released by ONS
