Reporting fly-tipping in our communal areas – guidance for council tenants

Fly-tipping is a criminal offence and carries the potential punishment if convicted of an unlimited fine or imprisonment. We carry out regular inspections of our estates and report any fly-tips seen, but we do need help with this as it is a regular occurrence.

Fly-tips in our communities

If you see a fly-tip in one of our communities, for example a shared area or communal garden please contact us at neighbourhoodasb@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk. Please let us know what has been dumped and where and any information that you may have regarding the source of the littering. Please send a photograph if possible.

We have the power to recharge tenants responsible for flytipping for the cost of removing rubbish dumped in communal areas. All of our buildings operate with a clear corridor policy, meaning that for reasons of health and safety no items should be left in communal areas.
